Marta Bringas, M.A., Founder and Director

Marta graduated from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and from Lewis and Clark College in 1997 with a Master’s of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Since then she has participated in several training courses and programs in the areas of domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger management, co-existing disorders, and addictions.

Marta participated in a research study at Oregon Health Sciences University by conducting structured psychiatric diagnostic interviews with adolescents and parents (Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia, K-SADS). She also worked at the Washington County Community Corrections from 1997 until 2003 as a Mental Health Specialist where she conducted screening mental health and chemical dependency evaluations with the appropriate recommendations for treatment and referrals to agencies in the community. During that time, she also facilitated several victim’s groups and developed a program for domestic violence offenders. Her bilingual-bicultural skills allowed her to work with both English and Spanish speaking offenders and victims. Marta’s work was also focused on criminal thinking, mental health and addictions, facilitating several cognitive-behavioral groups for offenders (Moral Reconation Therapy).

In June of 2003, Marta founded MHFCS, offering adult counseling services to clients from all over the state. In 2004, MHFCS expanded its horizons to cover also the adolescent population and their families. The agency currently offers several programs in the areas of addictions, domestic violence, sexual trauma and mental health.
